Task Two – Tags

Our next task is - Tags
Because Last.fm do an annual roundup of the Top 1000 most popular artists by tag, it’s really helpful to increase awareness by tagging your tracks.

Lets aim to get Monte on some year-end tag lists for 2011. It's really important for users to tag Monte’s tracks with tags that people search on – tags like "singer-songwriter", "rock", "acoustic" etc. Fun tags have their place too because people get curious about “master-shredder”, “great dude” & click… But to get him noticed by the tag aggregators at Last.fm, we need some standard ones too.

We have a minimum of some agreed tags so that we tag EVERY song the same and with the appropriate tag. This makes sure we maximize Monte’s chances of being on the roundup list.

You can tag the individual song, the album, or the artist or all of these.

Click on the “tag” button on the header. For each song, please tag it with two or more of these tags, whichever is appropriate…

• Male Vocalists
• Singer-songwriter
• Indie
• Rock
• Acoustic

You don't need to include all of these for every song - but for every song, please add at least two of these in addition to any others you might like to add.

NOTE: There are lots of tags that have different versions, we want to pick the most popular ones. So, I’ve chosen to us “male vocalists” rather than “male vocalist” because the first one is much more popular and lots more people will see it…

If I tag my comments on my computer in itunes will last.fm & scrobble grab them?

no, unfortunately that won't work. You do need to tag them in last.fm itself...
