Task Three – Meeting the Neighbours
A lot of people have already made friends when they signed up or started using Last.fm again. Feel free to friend me! My username is korestemenos. If you'd like, comment here with your username so that other Monte fans can see you and add you as a friend too.
Connecting up with other Monte fans is one part of this task - it's a great way to show that Monte already has a fan base. But the next part of this task is to connect up with people who don't know about Monte already...
To do this task, you will need to go to the website on the ‘net.
Go to
http://www.last.fm and login in if you haven’t already.
Click on the “neighbours” tab on the left hand side of the screen.

You can see that I have 50 ‘neighbours’ who have similar music tastes to me. I can browse their pages & decide if I want to “Add as friend”.
Once you’ve clicked “add as a friend” a message goes to them, and they will accept or reject the request.
Once you’ve established your friends, they will show up on the “Friends” tab on the left hand side of the screen.

You can “see what your friends are listening to” or “have a look at their loved tracks” - and of course, they can see yours too.
You can share your favourite tracks with them, “send a message” (private like an email), or “leave a shout” (a public message that shows up on their page). These are covered in the next task...
As a Last.fm user, I've had random people ask to be my friend - I've never said no & most of the peeps who've asked me have had similar music tastes, so I've taken the opportunity to get to see who else they listen to. I've found a couple of really good artists that way.
