Monte Pittman’s newest album, is a sonic narrative that brings each listener into a world where they are each asked to confront their own fate, good or bad, and their eventual death – and rebirth.
Enhanced by electric guitar, synths and piano, this album features spiraling and at times soaring guitar solos, frenzied guitar structures, harmonies and an infusion of 1970s Southern California sunny Americana rock, blaring 80s stadium rock and 90s alternative rock.
The album transitions between introspective ballads and aggressive, at times sex-fueled rock anthems. Pittman, a guitar virtuoso, powerfully dominates the listener with his versatility and mastery of the guitar – holding each listener in a delicate balance of suspense and surprise. His unique almost shamanlike, primal storytelling and music are at their best yet.
Beginning with haunting piano, the album then culminates in one of the most captivating and most beautiful songs on the record, the album’s closer, “Predetermined Destiny,” a Beatles-esque ballad, that brings the idea of embracing one’s fate full circle.

After a decade spent on the road away from home supporting the musical visions of others, Monte Pittman did what any musician might: he looked within, writing the 10 soulful tracks that comprise his debut album, the Deepest Dark.
Released in 2009, the Deepest Dark is a bold musical statement from a musician previously known primarily for his amazing chops. Where you might expect to find an album full of pyrotechnic guitar shredding, Pittman’s debut instead takes a deliberate left turn: the album is comprised of only Pittman on voice and acoustic guitar, showcasing songs of surprising depth and emotional range by a versatile tunesmith. Radio friendly rockers like “The Circle” (co-written by Adam Lambert and Tommy Victor) co-exist next to the acoustic metal of “Out of the Black” and epic love songs like “After the Last Wave” (which features the lone guest appearance on the record: vocals by Pittman’s wife, Lisa).
Where Pittman goes musically after The Deepest Dark—an album of quiet reflection in a career of excitement and achievement—is anyone’s guess, but it’s clear that he’s capable of taking any left turn he wants; we’re just along for the amazing ride.
