Australian Musician spent some time with Monte on the last day of the Rebel Heart Tour and they talked about guitar, amps, his next solo album and of course, Madonna!
Is there a favourite part of the show for you?
For me the song Burning Up because that is the biggest guitar song for me and she gives me a guitar solo, so that’s going to be my favourite. I love doing the acoustic with her too. That’s the great thing about this gig is that you do rock stuff, you do acoustic stuff, funk stuff. We always do atmospheric stuff, so I get to play so many styles, even jazz. There’s some jazz in there too.
Check out some great videos from Madonna’s intimate gig “Tears of a Clown” that was held in Melbourne last night. Monte played his Bourgeois acoustics and his Alhambra nylon string guitar.
Such kind words about Madonna’s set list tonight! Seeing people who had waited outside for so long put their hands in their faces, crying while hearing some of these songs is one of the most amazing Madonna moments I’ve experienced at this point. Tonight was so much hard work but so much fun. I’m always here as long as I’m welcome. It was awesome performing these songs tonight. So many to choose from. The shape of things to come, I hope! How can I be any use to you now….? — Monte Pittman
Madonna had a special surprise for her fans in Australia, who have been waiting to see Madonna perform since 1993! Madonna and her band held an intimate gig called “Tears of a Clown” at The Forum in Melbourne where she performed 15 songs, including “Easy Ride” that she and Monte co-wrote.

Between the Bars (Elliot Smith cover)
I’m So Stupid
Paradise (Not for me)
Joan of Arc
Don’t Tell Me
Take a Bow
The Tears of a Clown

Fresh off the Rebel Heart Tour, Monte will join a star-studded event to benefit Palos Verdes Peninsula public schools on March 26 at the Norris Theater and Pavilion in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
“From Bach to Rock” is an intimate concert, bringing rock stars together with world-renowned classical musicians, taking you on a journey from 17th century to the modern hits of today, all in the spirit of benefiting Palos Verdes Peninsula public schools (proceeds to be donated to the Peninsula Education Foundation – PEF).
The Rebel Heart Band & Crew are on their way back to their homes to take a small break for the holidays before they come back to resume the tour! Monte posted this message on Instagram:

Glasgow was the last European show and it ended with Madonna performing “Holiday” unplugged — no problem for the Queen; see what happened below!
